The Brew Company is located in Sheffield and is a craft brewery producing award winning cask conditioned beer.
The story of The Brew Company is really the story of a desire to turn many years of hard work drinking beers into a brewing industry dream. That dream is to make traditionally brewed beer with a rare drinkability like no other available in today’s mass market.
Our traditional beers are all made in our local brewery by our own qualified brewer. Pete Roberts is a graduate of Brewlab at Sunderland University which is the nation’s premier school for the craft brewing industry. He also holds the cellar management qualification ‘The Award in Beer & Cellar Quality’, which is awarded by the British Institute of Inn Keeping.
Pete is seriously committed to authentic, traditional brewing practices and the perfection of beer. We believe that by having a quality brewer in charge we get outstanding quality beers.
“There are four main considerations when making good beer” says Pete.
“They are Quality, Consistency, Character and Flavour. Those brewers who strive for only quality and consistency to support high volume production methods (we all know who they are) produce lifeless flavourless beer. Those who concentrate on character and flavour produce something special for the beer drinker. I aim to produce something special in all my beers which is superior to mass produced brands whilst the process I use means the drinker gets a consistently good pint”
Where are we?
The Brew Company is based in Sheffield which is the fourth largest city in England and is located in the county of South Yorkshire.
Sheffield is world famous for its steel industry and related industries such as cutlery manufacturing, but is now developing as an important cultural centre.
The city used to have many major brewers based in its boundaries until they relocated to centralise their operations.
The last two decades have seen a renaissance in brewing in the city with 9 breweries now supplying the city’s thirst for cask conditioned beers. With more freehouse pubs than any other city Sheffield is the ‘Holy City’ when it comes to real ale.
